This course is 60 hours in length and is offered in the morning (9:30 - 12:30), afternoon (1:30 - 4:30) or evening (6:30 - 9:30) class set-ups. The Institute is open Monday to Thursday (in the case of a holiday Monday, classes will be held on Fridays).
 
Course Structure

Introduction: This area of study deals with the laws and statutes and the municipal, provincial and federal statutes that are crucial to this profession. The Private Investigators Act, PEPIDA, Privacy legislations, the Criminal Code, Policties and Procedures are also studied. The students are instructed in what a private investigator is and what are their duties.

Market Overview: This section deals with the "meat and potatoes" of the investigation profession. Study areas include: fraud investigation, counterfeiting, arson investigation, basic forensics, the court system, interviewing practices, information gathering, note keeping, the use of surveillance cameras, surveillance techniques. Instructional videos will be presented, and selected professional speakers will also teach during the section of study. Students will also engage in practical application when possible.

Area Structure: This area of study deals in a more informative manner of the several structural areas of investigation: domestic, civil, corporate and criminal areas. These four areas are examined in greater detail to give the students the proper emphasis and techniques that are required to handle certain situations.

Review: In this section the essential elements of the course are reviewed and students are given an opportunity to clarify any issues to do with the subject matter before the final exam.
 
Examination: A final mark of 75% or better is required for successful completion of the course. Certificates of completion will be awarded after the marks of the final exams are available, provided full payment for the course has been made.
